The Legacy of Catherine the Great
In June 1767, she created the Legislative Commission to modify the old laws in accordence with her "instructions". She formed a group of delegates the same year to create a constitution and consider people's wishes and ideas. On November 6, 1796 Catherine the Great died of a stroke. Catherine gave an idea that was that the system would provide equal protection to everyone under the law. In 1775, Catherine introduced a new system of local government to the people. In 1786, she made a plan the would help her create a large scale educational system. She introduced several elementary schools into the counrty's educational society. With Catherine in rule she turned St.Petersburg into a stunning capital. Along with her support she thrived theater, music, and painting.
